Gloves are much more than a complement when it comes to sitting behind the wheel. In fact, when the automotive industry began to take its first steps and the first units began to roll, these garments were essential to protect the hands of drivers from the vapors given off by vehicles, at very high temperatures. Not surprisingly, the space in front of the passenger seat is called precisely ... glove compartment.
Today, gloves continue to be a must have in the glove compartment of every sophisticated driver, although, fortunately, for different reasons. It is no longer about protecting your hands from burns, but about providing a much more enjoyable driving experience. And several reasons can be listed. The first seems obvious: it significantly improves the grip of the steering wheel. It is not only about adherence -especially if we are talking about fine leather or wood-, but also about avoiding other quite common situations, such as, for example, that the hands slip due to sweat on a long journey or a hot day or in sharp curves.
One of the parts of the vehicle that gives the worst image when it is worn, is the steering wheel. A wear that is also avoided with the use of gloves. Especially if these are made with good quality materials. Something that also happens if we talk about the gear knob.
Another advantage of gloves is -although it seems obvious- that they will protect you from the cold in winter ... but you will also be happy to wear them in summer. Because who has not, ever, separated their hands from the steering wheel or the gear knob quickly because of how hot it is after picking up the car after a summer day with high temperatures? Of course, for the summer you can opt for a lighter pair.
And, of course, the elegance. And is that ... how not to feel like a gentleman, with a good pair?
